(Adnkronos) – “A truly very big step.” This was stated by Sanae Takaichi, the first woman to lead the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) who is preparing to become the first premier of the Land of the Rising Sun, after signing the coalition agreement with Ishin co-leader Hirofumi Yoshimura, who is also the governor of Osaka. “Stable politics are important,” added Sanae Takaichi, in statements reported by the Kyodo agency.

“I look forward to working with you – she continued – to strengthen the Japanese economy and reshape Japan, as a country that can be responsible for future generations.”

In a Japan awaiting Donald Trump’s visit, parliamentarians are called to choose the new premier. He will take the place of Shigeru Ishiba, who in September announced his step back from the leadership of the Liberal Democratic Party and effectively the government.
