(Adnkronos) – The leader of the opposition, Avigdor Liberman, has asked the Israeli Prosecutor’s Office to open a criminal investigation into Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of treason. This was reported by the Kan television broadcaster. In particular, Liberman accuses Netanyahu of wanting to drag Israel into another war against Iran to avoid an electoral defeat in tomorrow’s parliamentary elections. “Over the past month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pressured the heads of the security apparatus to take measures that could lead to a miscalculation regarding Iran,” Lieberman wrote.
“Attempting to drag the State of Israel into war on the eve of elections, along with the willingness to sacrifice IDF soldiers solely out of fear of an electoral defeat, constitutes treason against the State, its security, and its soldiers,” said the leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu party. “I demand the immediate opening of a criminal investigation against Benjamin Netanyahu on suspicion of treason,” he added.
