PM Takaichi Tops 2025 Income Rankings for Japan Party Heads

Tokyo, June 30 (Jiji Press)–Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, the president of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, earned 36.41 million yen in 2025, the highest income among nine party leaders, reports showed on Tuesday. According to the 2025 reports on lawmakers’ incomes, the average income among the nine stood at 24.53 million yen. Takaichi was the only one whose income exceeded 30 million yen. Her salary was 23.59 million yen. Other incomes, including those from her writing activities and royalties, rose 3.83 million yen from the previous year to 12.82 million yen. The second in the rankings was Yuichiro Tamaki, leader of the opposition Democratic Party for the People, who earned 28.82 million yen. Fumitake Fujita, co-leader of the Japan Innovation Party, the LDP’s coalition partner, came next with 27.09 million yen, followed by Komeito head Toshiko Takeya with 22.89 million yen. Junya Ogawa, who became head of the Centrist Reform Alliance in February this year, ranked eighth with 20.6 million yen. Social Democratic Party leader Mizuho Fukushima earned 22.66 million yen. The income of Shunichi Mizuoka, chief of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, was 21.08 million yen. Sanseito leader Sohei Kamiya recorded 21.07 million yen, and Japanese Communist Party leader Tomoko Tamura 20.15 million yen. The reports cover lawmakers who were in office throughout 2025. The rankings do not include Team Mirai’s Takahiro Anno or the Conservative Party of Japan’s Naoki Hyakuta, both of whom became lawmakers through the July 2025 election of the House of Councillors, the upper chamber of the Diet, the country’s parliament.
