(Adnkronos) – The German government has extended border controls for six months with the aim of reducing illegal immigration and protecting national security. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced it. “With border controls we are effectively rejecting irregular immigration, as the data shows,” Scholz said in a statement.
“We are stopping the traffickers who brutally exploit people and smuggle them across borders. And we are stopping criminals and extremists,” confirmed Interior Minister Nancy Faeser. Last September 16, Germany extended controls to all its land borders.
