(Adnkronos) – Russia has confirmed the interruption starting from May 1st of the flow of Kazakh oil to Germany. The news of the suspension was confirmed by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, who spoke with journalists at the Kremlin: “Starting from May 1st, the volumes of Kazakh oil previously transported to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline will effectively be redirected to other available logistical routes. This is due to current technical capabilities,” he stated, without providing a timeline for the resumption of supplies. When asked about the consequences for Germany, Novak declared: “The Germans have refused Russian oil, which means everything is fine for them.”
Meanwhile, Berlin stressed that it does not expect an energy supply crisis. The suspension from May 1st will affect a refinery, managed by the German subsidiary of the Russian state oil company Rosneft, which supplies fuel to a large part of the Berlin region and the capital’s international airport. German government spokesman Stefan Kornelius stated that the interruption “will not significantly limit refinery operations,” but added that authorities are keeping a close eye on the availability of kerosene in particular.
