(Adnkronos) – Dialogue is needed between United States and Iran to de-escalate the widening Middle East conflict and achieve “a peaceful solution”, Italy said on Monday after over 12 hours of talks in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad ended on Sunday without agreement
“We support dialogue between the US and Iran so that a peaceful solution can also be reached,” Tajani told reporters at a press conference in Beirut after talks there with Lebanon’s president Joseph Aoun.
“We hope that dialogue in Islamabad will resume as soon as possible so that ‘a deterioration of the situation can be avoided,” Tajani went on.
“We hope that Iran will not build a nuclear bomb and that the Strait of Hormuz can be cleared of mines,” Tajani added, referring to the vital oil conduit.
