Japan, Australia Foreign Chiefs to Cooperate for Hormuz Safety

Tokyo, April 8 (Jiji Press)–Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and his Australian counterpart, Penny Wong, on Wednesday affirmed bilateral cooperation to ensure safe ship navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. In their phone talks, the two ministers welcomed the two-week ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, and shared the view that a final agreement to end the fighting needs to be reached at an early date. Also on Wednesday, Motegi held separate phone talks with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al Safadi. They agreed on close communication to de-escalate the tensions over Iran at an early time.
