(Adnkronos) – In a hypothetical duel for the White House in 2028, Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would narrowly beat Vice President JD Vance. This is what emerges, for the first time in a poll conducted for The Argument magazine, which gives the young New York congresswoman 51% against 49% for Donald Trump’s vice.
“Boom” was the comment on these results published on X by the Democrat who defines herself as a socialist, like New York’s new mayor Zohran Mamdani. The poll is set to strengthen the position of the 36-year-old congresswoman elected in Queens ahead of the primaries to choose the Democrat who will seek to regain the White House in two years. Another recent poll indeed showed Ocasio-Cortez leading the race for the Dem nomination, with a double-digit lead over Kamala Harris, the former vice president defeated in 2024 by Donald Trump, and California Governor Gavin Newsom.
It should be noted that this was a Yale Youth Poll, therefore aimed at the young electorate, which is the main strength of the Democratic left. Consider the large crowds of young people that Ocasio-Cortez, along with Bernie Sanders, the senator and former White House candidate considered the historical father of the American left, attracted with their “Fighting Oligarchy” tour across America.
