(Adnkronos) – Russian officials have not yet reacted to Donald Trump’s statements that he is “very angry” with Vladimir Putin. Meanwhile, TV has offered a softened narrative of the American president’s words. Rossiya 1 broadcast a segment with an excerpt from the NBC News interview omitting his statement about being “angry” with Putin. The Russian channel preferred instead to focus on Trump’s “determination” to run for a third time. The channel quoted Trump’s subsequent comment that he did not believe his relationship with Putin was at a low point.
Ntv also made no reference to Trump’s “angry” statements, stating however that “a deadline has been set by which Russia will have to reach a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine.” The channel also mentioned Trump’s threats to impose tariffs ranging from 25 to 50% on countries that buy Russian oil.
Some Russian commentators have described Trump’s frustration as a sign of Western manipulation or the American president’s inexperience in global politics. Still others have pointed out that the Kremlin has not been fazed, considering his threats ineffective and temporary.
