(Adnkronos) – Two people were arrested by Marseille police as part of an investigation into the throwing of Molotov cocktails at the Russian consulate yesterday morning in the southern French city. According to the local newspaper ‘La Provence’, the two suspects were apprehended during a demonstration yesterday evening in support of Ukraine, marking the third anniversary of the Russian invasion.
The arrests came after Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the throwing of explosive devices, which caused no casualties or damage, against the Russian diplomatic mission had “all the connotations of a terrorist attack”, calling on the French authorities to “take swift measures to investigate” and “steps to strengthen the security of our diplomatic missions”.
