(Adnkronos) – Rebels from the M23, backed by Rwandan troops, have taken control of Bukavu airport, in the capital of South Kivu province in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, security and humanitarian sources said.
The airport was considered a strategic site, where Congolese troops were positioned. It is the last military obstacle for anti-government forces before they reach the city of Bukavu, about 30 kilometers away.
