(Adnkronos) – The death toll from last week’s clashes for the control of Goma, in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, between the M23 rebels backed by Rwanda and the Kinshasa army has risen to 2,900. In a video conference, the deputy head of the UN peacekeeping mission in the DRC (MONUSCO), Vivian van de Perre, said: “At the moment 2,000 bodies have been recovered in the streets of Goma and another 900 remain in the morgues of the hospitals”.
