(Adnkronos) – Elon Musk paid another $43.5 million to America Pac in early October, the political action committee founded and funded by the world’s richest man to help Donald Trump return to the White House. With the 75 million paid in the previous quarter, the tech billionaire has so far invested 118.5 million dollars in initiatives to support Trump’s campaign.
Like the latest, controversial, one of offering a million dollars every day to those who signed a petition, officially in defense of freedom of expression and freedom to use weapons, but in fact a collection of signatures of potential Trump voters in key states, to whom Musk gave 47 dollars to sign and have them sign. On the lottery, the Justice Department has moved in, writing to America Pac to warn that the initiative could be a violation of electoral law.
Despite Musk’s financial mobilization, Trump continues to lag behind Kamala Harris in fundraising: in the first 16 days of October, the Democrat’s campaign raised $189 million, compared to $107 for the Republican. But the financial advantage does not ensure the electoral one: in 2016 Trump defeated Hillary Clinton, even though the Democrat had raised twice as much money.
