Vientiane, Nov. 21 (Jiji Press)–Japan’s Princess Aiko visited the Lao Silk Residence, an exhibition of traditional textiles, in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on Friday, the last day of her official visit to the Southeast Asian country. After receiving an explanation that traditional textiles are used for purposes such as holding a baby, the princess said, “There are so many ideas.” Princess Aiko, daughter of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, also tried weaving with silk thread, using both her hands and feet. “This is enjoyable,” she said with a smile. She is scheduled to leave Vientiane on a commercial flight at night and arrive home on Saturday. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
