Drought in Tehran, Friday prayers in mosques

14 Novembre 2025

(Adnkronos) – Friday prayers for rain in Tehran. Hundreds of men and women gathered today in a mosque in the north of the capital, invoking rain as one of the most severe droughts in decades continues, which has led to water rationing with the risk that Tehran residents may be forced to evacuate the city.

In fifteen of Iran’s 31 provinces, it has not rained this autumn, local media reported, stating that in Tehran, the situation of almost non-existent rainfall “is unprecedented in a century.”

Today, worshippers, some in tears, gathered for a collective prayer in the Emamzadeh Saleh mosque, invoking the return of rain to Iran and particularly to Tehran, where 15 million people live.
