6 Novembre 2025

(Adnkronos) – Italy is at the forefront of efforts to stabilise Syria and achieve a peaceful, inclusive political transition, foreign minister Antonio Tajani said Thursday during talks with president Ahmad al-Shara at the United Nations COP30 climate change conference in Belem, northern Brazil.

“At #COP30 in #Brazil, I also met with Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara and (foreign minister Hassan) al-Shaibani to discuss bilateral relations and the situation in the Middle East,” Tajani wrote on X.

“Italy is at the front line for #Syria’s stability and for a peaceful and inclusive political process, also to protect the sizeable Christian communities present in the region,” Tajani went on.

“We will continue to stand by the Syrian people,” Tajani underlined.

During the talks, al-Shara and al-Shaibani also agreed to re-boot economic ties “though the expertise of Italian businesses”, Tajani wrote.
