Nissan to Cut Output at 2 Plants in Japan

5 Novembre 2025

Tokyo, Nov. 5 (Jiji Press)–Nissan Motor Co. said Wednesday that it will curb production at two plants in Japan starting Monday, due to supply shortages of semiconductors from former Chinese-affiliated chipmaker Nexperia. Minor output adjustments will be implemented at the Nissan Motor Kyushu Co. manufacturing unit in Kanda, Fukuoka Prefecture, and the Oppama plant in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, after the Chinese government banned exports of Nexperia semiconductors made in China, which have been used in a variety of auto parts, in response to the Dutch government’s takeover of the chipmaker’s control in September for economic security reasons. Nissan Motor Kyushu makes the X-Trail SUV and the Oppama plant the Note electric vehicle, among others. The Chinese action has also led Honda Motor Co. to suspend vehicle manufacturing in Mexico and reduce production in Canada and the United States. Meanwhile, the White House explained after the U.S.-China summit last week that appropriate measures could be taken to ease the chip export restriction. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
