(Adnkronos) – A majority of Americans believe that Donald Trump is not committed to defending freedom of expression, protecting a fair judicial system, and preserving free and fair elections. This is what emerges from a Washington Post-Abcnews poll, which nevertheless registers a modest advantage for Democrats on these fronts.
57% of respondents believe that the president is not committed to defending freedom of expression, against 42% who say he is convinced. And the percentage of skeptics rises to 61% when it comes to protecting press freedom, with just 36 percent believing that Trump protects it.
56% then think that the president is not committed to a fair justice system, with 42% thinking the opposite. The same percentage then doubts that Trump defends free and fair elections, with 43% instead arguing that the president is committed. Finally, the poll finds that 58% of Americans think the president has gone too far in attacking political opponents, and finally two-thirds of respondents believe he has gone too far in expanding the powers of the president.
