(Adnkronos) – Italy “cannot overlook” the crucial raw materials which the Artic region possesses, foreign minister Antonio Tajani said on Monday at the presentation in Rome of the government’s strategy for the region.
“With our embassy in Denmark, we are planning an Artic business mission,” he said, noting that Italy is an observer at the high-level Arctic Council forum to promote cooperation, coordination and interaction among Arctic states.
“We cannot overlook the importance of raw materials and the Artic contains a wealth of these,” Tajani said.
Tajani will travel to Washington “in the next few weeks” for talks on raw materials with US secretary of state Marco Rubio “and other partners” and on a “major event we are organising”, he stated.
