UN Assembly approves two-state solution without Hamas

12 Settembre 2025

(Adnkronos) – The United Nations General Assembly has adopted the “New York Declaration”, the text that aims to relaunch the prospect of a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine, excluding any involvement of Hamas. The resolution was approved with 142 votes in favor, 10 against – including Israel and its main ally, the United States – and 12 abstentions. The document explicitly condemns Hamas and calls for the organization to lay down its arms.

The draft resolution, put forward by France and Saudi Arabia, was approved as part of the “New York Conference” held in July and presents an action document intended, according to its promoters, to chart an “irreversible” path towards the creation of a Palestinian state. Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, attacked: “This is an empty proposal that completely ignores reality. This is a unilateral declaration that embraces the lies of our enemies and provides support to Hamas”. Ynet reports.
