(Adnkronos) – The Nepalese government has revoked the ban on social media, after 19 people died yesterday in the repression of protests against that ban. This was announced by the Minister of Communications, Prithvi Subba Gurung. Last week, the Kathmandu government ordered the blocking of 26 social networks, including Facebook and Instagram, accusing the platforms of not having registered with the competent ministry as required, based on a Supreme Court order that had placed social media under state supervision in an attempt to combat online disinformation.
