(Adnkronos) – North Korean leader Kim Jong-un shook hands with South Korean Parliament Speaker U Won-sik before attending the military parade in Beijing to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. This was reported by the South Korean news agency Newsis, specifying that, during the parade, the two were however seated far apart. “According to information provided by the Speaker’s office, Woo Won-sik and Kim Jong-un greeted each other before the parade. They climbed onto the stands in Tiananmen Square together, but during the parade they sat on opposite sides,” Newsis reported.
According to the agency, the Seoul parliament speaker also managed to communicate briefly with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Wu Won-sik asked Putin to “show interest in the more than 130 South Korean companies operating in Russia,” Newsis reported. Wu Won-sik invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit to be held in the South Korean city of Gyeongju from October 31st to November 1st.
