Tokyo, June 11 (Jiji Press)–Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 stock average temporarily gave up over 1,800 points in early trading Thursday. At 9:10 a.m., the index of 225 selected issues listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s top-tier Prime section plunged 1,827.92 points, or 2.85 pct, from the previous day to 62,351.35, slipping below 63,000 for the first time in about three weeks on an intraday basis. The plummet came after major U.S. stock indexes fell sharply on Wednesday on the back of renewed concerns over the Middle East situation following an escalation in the armed conflict between the United States and Iran, market sources said.
