(Adnkronos) – It was a phone thrown over the North Lawn fence that triggered the brief lockdown of the White House. This was reported by spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt, according to Al Jazeera journalist Kimberly Halkett.
The security measure was triggered at 11:30 a.m. (5:30 p.m. Italian time), when a Secret Service official ordered all journalists present on the North Wing to urgently return to the briefing room, without providing explanations. The lockdown was lifted after about half an hour and access to the outside area was restored. There were no consequences for the President’s safety.
