Pezeshkian, ‘we are not looking for the bomb but if attacked we will defend ourselves’

(Adnkronos) – Iran is not seeking the atomic bomb, the Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, has also “officially” announced it, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) itself “has verified it hundreds of times”, but it is ready to defend itself “with all its might” if attacked. This was stated by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, as April 12 approaches, the day talks between Tehran and Washington on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program will begin in Oman.

“They say Iran wants to build a nuclear bomb. But who else can decide but the Leader of the Revolution, who has officially and publicly announced that we are not seeking to build it? They have verified it a hundred times and then a thousand more, but we need science and nuclear energy,” Pezeshkian said in a speech in Tehran on National Nuclear Technology Day, according to the Irna news agency.

“They want to humiliate us, but we will not allow it,” the Iranian president continued, who then wanted to send a clear message to the United States. “We are not looking for war, but we will resist any aggression with force,” he said. “The more they hit us, the stronger we will become.” And he concluded: “We will not compromise on our nuclear achievements and we will not trade them away.”
