(Adnkronos) – Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson has announced his resignation following the defeat in the legislative elections, won by the center-left bloc. “It is now up to the Speaker of Parliament to lead the next steps for the formation of a new government. In order for this work to begin without delay, I hereby ask to be relieved of the office of prime minister,” Kristersson wrote in a letter published on his X account.
The resignation formally opens the consultation phase for the formation of the new executive, after the center-left bloc led by Andersson secured 176 seats, against 173 for Kristersson’s right-wing bloc.
