A source familiar with the details confirmed this to the Afp news agency. Previously, the State Department had officially announced an extension of visa sanctions against high-ranking Palestinian Authority officials and PLO members, claiming they continue to not respect commitments made with Washington. Abbas’s name was not mentioned in the official State Department announcement.
