Ukraine, refinery on fire in Russia after drone attack Kiev

24 Febbraio 2025

(Adnkronos) – A Ukrainian drone attack sparked a fire at an oil refinery in Russia overnight, Russian media reported. Kyiv has hit several Russian energy sites with long-range drone strikes, claiming they are retaliation for Moscow’s missile attacks that have crippled Ukraine’s energy grid and cut power to millions at various points in the three-year conflict.

The governor of the Russian region of Ryazan, Pavel Malkov, said on Telegram that “a fire broke out on the territory of a company due to the fall of debris” after drones were shot down. The Russian Defense Ministry said it had shot down 22 Ukrainian drones overnight, including two in the Ryazan region, southeast of Moscow.

Some Telegram accounts, including the Baza channel, close to Russian security forces, said the fire broke out at an oil refinery. Local media reported that this is the third time the site, owned by Russian oil giant Rosneft, has been hit this year.
