Tokyo, Aug. 12 (Jiji Press)–Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways are expected to lower their fuel surcharges on flights from Japan to North America and Europe to 50,000-55,000 yen for tickets issued in September and October, Jiji Press learned Wednesday. The plan comes as aviation fuel prices have fallen after rising sharply amid turmoil in the Middle East. Both airlines had raised the surcharges on the routes for tickets issued in July and August to a record 65,000 yen from 56,000 yen for May and June. The companies will also reduce their surcharges on routes to other destinations for tickets issued in September and October.
