(Adnkronos) – Moldova has recalled its ambassador to Moscow, Lilian Darii, for consultations, after the crash of a Russian drone in Crocmaz, in the southern district of Stefan Voda, which caused damage to some buildings without causing casualties. The Moldovan Foreign Ministry called the incident a “serious violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity” of the country, which “endangered” the security of its citizens. “Moldova condemns Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and its consequences for the security of our country and the entire region,” the ministry said. President Maia Sandu, in turn, “strongly” condemned what she called “the latest violation” of Moldovan airspace by Moscow: “This is a direct consequence of Russia’s war and puts all of us in danger. The risk to human life in our region is real and increasing. It must stop.”
The incident occurred yesterday in Crocmaz, where a strong explosion was reported. Investigators found fragments of a drone on site and believe the aircraft may have exploded after hitting a tree in a wooded area. Crocmaz is located near the Ukrainian region of Odesa, which was hit by a massive Russian attack in recent hours. The episode follows the discovery of fragments of another Russian drone near the locality of Valeni, in the Cahul district, near the border with Romania.
