(Adnkronos) – Icelandic authorities have ordered the expulsion of the 21 passengers of a ship belonging to animal rights activist Paul Watson’s foundation, which was boarded last week during a protest against whaling. The Icelandic police told AFP today.
The Bandero was boarded last Thursday and Friday night off the Icelandic coast, with 21 people on board, after attempting to obstruct the Hvalur 9, one of the last whaling ships still operating in the country.
“All crew members of the Bandero have been informed of an expulsion order with a ban on return,” police spokesman Gunnar Runar Sveinbjörnsson told AFP.
According to the list provided to AFP by the foundation, five Americans, four Brazilians, three French, two Spanish, one Australian, one Belgian, one Canadian, one German, one British, one Swiss, and one citizen of Trinidad and Tobago were on board the Bandero.
