(Adnkronos) – Fourteen Tunisian rail workers have arrived in Italy for work experience at state-owned Trenitalia after receiving training in their home country under the multi-billion euro Mattei Plan to accelerate Africa’s economic development.

The Tunisians were welcomed at a ceremony held at the headquarters of Trenitalia’s parent company Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) at its headquarters at Villa Patrizi in Rome.

Other FS schemes being rolled out under the Mattei Plan were unveiled at Tuesday’s welcome ceremony, including technical training and know-how transfer programmes in Egypt aimed at teachers and students at vocational colleges to strengthen professional skills in the railway sector.
