Iran, Tehran Interior Minister expected in Islamabad

20 Luglio 2026

(Adnkronos) – The Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni is expected today in Islamabad, Pakistan, a country that is playing a mediating role between Tehran and Washington. This was stated by a source from the Pakistani Interior Ministry to AFP, explaining that the Iranian minister has scheduled talks with Pakistani officials. Momeni participated in mediation talks and met with Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi during his visit to Iran.

Previously, the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry had said in a press conference that diplomatic exchanges with the United States, through mediators, continued despite US military attacks against the country. Last week, Pakistan stated that it would encourage Iran and the United States to cease raids and resume talks based on a memorandum of understanding signed on June 17, which Islamabad helped mediate.
