Tokyo, June 24 (Jiji Press)–Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi and his Canadian counterpart, David McGuinty, reaffirmed Wednesday that their countries will strengthen bilateral security cooperation. During their meeting in Tokyo, the two ministers welcomed the elevation of the Japan-Canada relationship to a comprehensive and strategic partnership in March. Canada is considering participating as an observer in the joint development of a next-generation fighter jet between Japan, Italy and Britain. This topic may have been on the agenda of the meeting.
