(Adnkronos) – Italy’s cabinet has approved the assignment of Emanuela D’Alessandro as diplomatic advisor to president Sergio Mattarella, prime minister Giorgia Meloni’s office said late on Monday in a statement.
Foreign minister Antonio Tajani nominated D’Alessandro for the post, the statement said.
D’Alessandro’s former postings include ambassador to France and to Croatia. The distinguished diplomat is a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Merit and has received several awards for her work for equal opportunities for women.
D’Alessandro previously served as diplomatic advisor to Sergio Mattarella during his first term as president, replacing Fabio Cassese, who in January was appointed Italy’s envoy to the United Kingdom.
