(Adnkronos) – Rail traffic has been suspended in the territory of Crimea following an attack on a train operating on the Moscow-Simferopol route, which caused the death of a train driver. “Passengers on all trains present on the peninsula have been evacuated. Passengers on several trains from Moscow and St. Petersburg are currently being transported to Simferopol by bus,” reads a statement from the ‘Grand Service Express’ railway company. Five trains bound for Crimea and three originating from Crimea have been suspended, with delays of up to 7 hours. Two days ago, the authorities of the ‘Luhansk People’s Republic’ had imposed a ban on passenger traffic on the Novorossiya highway and on road R-150, citing “armed aggression by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.” The continuous shelling of this highway, which Russian authorities use to transport fuel to Crimea, has caused an energy crisis on the peninsula.
