(Adnkronos) – There are 19 arrests triggered in Turkey after last week’s tragedy in a ski resort in Bolu. Investigations are ongoing and 19 people have been arrested, confirms the Turkish agency Anadolu. Among the 19 are the owner of the hotel, the manager, the deputy mayor of Bolu and the local fire chief. An arrest warrant was issued for an employee of a supervisory company, Anadolu added.

The fire, which broke out in the early hours of January 21, killed at least 78 people. Many of the more than 230 guests at the facility tried to escape by jumping from the windows of the Grand Kartal Hotel or climbing down with the help of knotted sheets. After the tragedy, the exchange of accusations began between the central government and the local authorities of Bolu about the responsibilities of what happened. The opposition Chp party is in power in Bolu.
