(Adnkronos) – The United Nations has blacklisted Israeli security forces as responsible for sexual violence in armed conflicts, alongside Hamas militants, already accused of abuses in connection with the October 7 massacre. Ynet reports this, citing a UN report anticipated in recent days, which has drawn strong reactions from Israel. The Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, called the decision “outrageous” and announced the suspension of cooperation with the office of Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
According to the document, Israeli forces were allegedly involved in “documented patterns of sexual violence” against Palestinian detainees in the occupied territories of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The report attributes the alleged incidents to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the police, and the Israeli prison service, specifically citing the Yamam special unit, the Shin Bet’s Keter unit, and the so-called “Force 100”.
