(Adnkronos) – In 2024, extreme weather conditions disrupted the school attendance of approximately 242 million children – about one in seven students – across 85 countries. This was reported by Unicef, denouncing what it called a “neglected” aspect of the climate crisis.

The UN agency’s report states that heat waves were the most significant climate risk globally in 2024, and Executive Director Catherine Russell warned that children are the “most vulnerable” to extreme weather events.
