(Adnkronos) – Italy earmarks approximately 10 billion euros annually to for overseas development cooperation and ranks eighth in the world in terms of international aid for populations suffering hunger, disease, war and poverty, foreign minister Antonio Tajani said on Tuesday.
“This is a source of pride for Italy,” Tajani told the third national public conference on overseas aid and development (Coopera).
“When I think that my 4- and 2-year-old grandchildren have already far exceeded the life expectancy of an African child, I feel sick and get chills down my spine. How can we not act and think about what we can do to help those who are suffering,” he said.
