(Adnkronos) – The United States is Italy’s “traditional and most important ally,” which together with Europe makes up the West, foreign minister Antonio Tajani told TV talk show ‘Mattino 5’ on Friday.
“We are allies of the US regardless of Trump, Obama, Biden, Bush, or Reagan,” Tajani said, referring to current US president Donald Trump and former presidents Joe Biden, George Bush and Ronald Reagan.
“The US and Europe make up the two sides of the West,” Tajani contined.
The transatlantic alliance is an “historic and indispensable” one, he underlined.
“It’s true that Europe needs the US, but the US also needs Italy and Europe,” Tajani added.
