Germany, bank hostage-taking ends without injuries, perpetrators flee

(Adnkronos) – The hostage-taking that occurred on Friday in a bank in Sinzig, western Germany, ended without injuries, but one or more perpetrators managed to escape. German police reported this to AFP. 

According to Koblenz police, special forces stormed the building and managed to free two people, found unharmed inside the vault. Based on the investigators’ reconstruction, the robbers reportedly locked the hostages in the vault before leaving the bank in ways that are still unclear. 

Authorities have launched a large-scale search operation in the area to locate the suspects and reconstruct the exact dynamics of the incident.
