(Adnkronos) – The United Nations World Food Programme has appealed for fresh funds to keep helping 700,000 people forced to flee their homes since Israel began bombing the south of the country in retaliation for drone and missile attacks against the Jewish state by pro-Iranian militant group Hezbollah on 2 March.
“The crisis in the Middle East has displaced 700,000 people in Lebanon alone—in just 10 days,” WFP Cindy McCain wrote Wednesday on X.
“@WFP is delivering hot meals, food rations & cash to families in nearly 200 shelters across the country,” MCain continued.
“We urgently need funding to keep critical aid flowing to those most in need,” McCain underlined.
Officials say at least 570 people have been killed and 570 wound in Lebanon in the Israeli airstrikes this month, which have come amid the widening United States-Israel war on Iran, which began in late February with strikes targeting military sites.
