Italy, Germany resolved to rebuild, aid Gaza, stabilise the Mideast, boost EU competitiveness

(Adnkronos) – Italy and Germany are committed to reconstruction and humanitarian aid in Gaza, stabilising the Middle East and bolstering the European Union’s competitiveness, foreign minister Antonio Tajani wrote Friday on X after talks in Stuttgart with German counterpart Johann Wadephul.

“At the CDU (Christian Democratic Union) congress in #Stuttgart I met my friend, Germany’s foreign minister Johann Wadephul,” Tajani wrote.

“We took stock of yesterday’s Board of Peace,” Tajani continued.

Tajani referred the inaugural meeting of US president Donald Trump’s panel to implement his peace plan for Gaza and oversee the war-shattered Palestinian coastal enclave’s future administration. Italy and Germany attended the Gaza Board of Peace meeting as observers.

“Italy and Germany are bound by our shared commitment to reconstruction and humanitarian assistance in the #Gaza Strip and to peace and stability in the Middle East,” Tajani underlined.

The two nations are also linked by “a shared vision” of Europe, he wrote.

“We want to strengthen the competitiveness of the #EU to make it an ever stronger and more credible pillar of Nato,” Tajani continued.

Rome works with Berlin “every day to make Europe a key player in international action in crises zones,” Tajani concluded.
