Ukraine: no agreement on 20th EU sanctions package

20 Febbraio 2026

(Adnkronos) – No agreement among EU member states on the twentieth package of sanctions against Russia for the war in Ukraine. Coreper, it is understood, held an exchange of views on the 20th sanctions package, in order to reach an agreement as soon as possible. The revised texts were presented this morning: many delegations stressed the importance of reaching an agreement quickly.

Many stated that they needed more time to analyze the revised text of the package. The Cypriot presidency will continue bilateral consultations with the delegations, to return to the issue at a future Coreper meeting. The initial goal was to approve the package on the occasion of the end of the fourth year since the start of the large-scale invasion of Ukraine, on February 24; next Monday, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will be in Ukraine for this.
