Tokyo, Jan. 28 (Jiji Press)–The dollar was weak below 153 yen in Tokyo trading Wednesday morning, after remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump welcoming the greenback’s softness prompted the currency to plunge in New York overnight. At noon in Tokyo, the dollar stood at 152.82-84 yen, down from 154.71-72 yen at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Trump told reporters in the U.S. state of Iowa on Tuesday that the current value of the dollar was great following its recent depreciation against major currencies.
