(Adnkronos) – Critical raw materials and agro-industry were at the centre of talks between Italy’s premier Giorgia Meloni and Uzbekistan’s president, Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent – the final leg of Meloni’s three-nation Asian tour, her office said in a statement on Tuesday.
“The meeting provided an opportunity to further the dialogue initiated with the adoption of the Joint Declaration on Strengthening the Strategic Partnership in May 2025, during the Prime Minister’s visit to the region,” said the statement.
“In this context, the two leaders discussed the main crisis areas and key areas of bilateral cooperation, with a particular focus on critical raw materials and agro-industry,” the statement continued.
Meloni and Mirziyoyev underlined the Italy and Uzbekistan’s strategic ties and agreed to keep in “close contact,” the statement concluded.
