Greenland: media, Wednesday the meeting between USA and Denmark

12 Gennaio 2026

(Adnkronos) – Trump administration officials will meet Wednesday with their Danish counterpart to address the Greenland issue. This is what Cbsnews writes, citing diplomatic sources, after Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen confirmed yesterday the meeting this week between Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Rubio told Congress last week that Donald Trump is interested in buying the Arctic island, which is an autonomous Danish territory, adding that a series of options are being evaluated for the acquisition of Greenland, considered by Trump essential for national security issues, not excluding the use of military force.

“If we don’t take Greenland, Russia or China will take it and we cannot allow that – Trump said last week at the White House – I would like to make a deal with them, it’s easier, but one way or another we will have Greenland, if we don’t do it the good way, we’ll do it the bad way”.
