Tokyo, Oct. 5 (Jiji Press)–The Bank of Japan is considering making a judgment that the country’s underlying inflation rate has reached around 2 pct, Jiji Press learned Monday. The central bank will express the view as early as in its quarterly Outlook for Economic Activity and Prices report to be released after its next monetary policy meeting scheduled for Oct. 29 to 30. With companies increasingly active in passing on higher costs to consumers, the BOJ’s 2 pct inflation target is believed to be coming within reach. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
