Taiwan: Chinese drills, disruptions for over 100,000 passengers and 800 flights

29 Dicembre 2025

(Adnkronos) – Taiwan has warned that over 100,000 air passengers will be affected by disruptions caused by live-fire military exercises launched by China around the island. Taipei’s Civil Aviation Authority announced that tomorrow, approximately 296 international departing flights, 265 arriving flights, and about 296 transit flights will undergo changes or cancellations, with significant repercussions for regional air traffic.

The restrictions are linked to the military maneuvers announced by Beijing, named “Justice Mission 202”. Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense reported detecting the presence of 89 Chinese military aircraft and 28 warships and People’s Republic Coast Guard units near the island in the last 24 hours, the highest number of aircraft reported in a single day since October 15, 2024. Taipei also denounced the deployment of Chinese amphibious assault ships in the Western Pacific, while China reiterates its goal of “reunification” with Taiwan.
